Knight Testing offers mechanical testing services for medical devices, including materials, instruments, and implants. When clients require approval from the FDA and other regulatory bodies, we will supply in-depth test reports for their products. Our expert team guides clients through the required testing specific to each device. Even if no published methodology exists, we can perform custom testing that will aid in securing a device’s approval. We offer support following the submission, providing clients with advice addressing the questions that arise throughout the regulatory evaluation process. Our experienced team of experts consists of technicians, designers, and machinists. We offer medical device testing services to a broad scope of industries in-house from our 10,000sqft laboratory. Our testing data is repeatably accurate due to our laboratory’s use of MST controllers, load frames, and software. Furthermore, we possess a full range of machine shop services that proudly feature Haas CNC machining centers.
Knight Testing boasts a comprehensive mechanical testing laboratory featuring MTS Systems servo-hydraulic and electromechanical load frames. Our capability includes static testing and fatigue testing up to 30Hz, in axial, biaxial, and torsional loading configurations. Tests are conducted under force, displacement, or strain control in combination with auxiliary equipment including environmental chambers, extensometers, saline baths, and supplemental data acquisition. With force capacities ranging from ounces to tons, our equipment can test anything from the most delicate medical device to robust automotive structural components. The mechanical test laboratory at Knight Testing is globally accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and offers one of the most expansive collection of ASTM and ISO accredited test methods in the orthopedic industry.

Knight Testing employs design engineers who use Solidworks 3D CAD software to complete designs of every level of complexity. We host an in-house machine shop with a Haas VMC, Bridgeport mills, manual lathes, and a variety of saws. Our company offers a broad scope of capabilities, ranging from machining standard ASTM test blocks for spinal implants to producing standard test coupons for tensile testing. We provide other machinery and secondary operations as well, such as wire EDM, CNC grinding, Swiss turning, laser marking, electropolishing, and anodizing. All our designs and machining capabilities support our testing services, allowing us to keep most of our work in-house.
